The Book House – Sharon’s shining stars!

Today we have Sharon Sant entering ‘The Book House’

Sharon Sant was born in Dorset but now lives in Stoke-on-Trent. She graduated from Staffordshire University in 2009 with a degree in English and creative writing. She currently works part time as a freelance editor and continues to write her own stories. An avid reader with eclectic tastes across many genres, when not busy trying in vain to be a domestic goddess, she can often be found lurking in local coffee shops with her head in a book. Sometimes she pretends to be clever but really loves nothing more than watching geeky TV and eating Pringles. She is the author of a string of YA novels including Runners, The Memory Game and the Sky Song trilogy.

I love a new challenge, so when Kirsty asked me to come up with six contestants to go into the Big Book House, I was only too happy to have a go. To be honest, they’re a fairly random choice, basically being from six books on my shelf that happened to catch my attention first!

Rudy Steiner – The Book Thief by Markus Zusack

20131001-194223.jpgRudy made me weep, just by being Rudy. He was nothing special or particularly brave and he was a little bit weird at times, but he loved Liesel from the moment he met her, no matter what she did and he’ll always have a place in my heart because of that.

Peter Pan – Peter Pan by JM Barrie

20131001-193722.jpgI adore this book so much that I wrote my English dissertation about it! Fun, mean, a little bit angry, Peter is like punk before punk was invented.

Coraline – Coraline by Neil Gaiman

20131001-193823.jpgMy first girl. There were so many girls to choose from but I went with Coraline because she doesn’t have magic or hunting skills, just a determination to succeed in a very weird world.

Inigo Montoya – The Princess Bride by William Goldman

20131001-193934.jpgHow can you not love Inigo? All he wants to do is kill the six fingered man who murdered his father, dedicating his whole life to the search and the training that will enable him to do it. He also has a sword and a cute accent.

Sherlock Holmes – from lots of Sherlock Holmes stories! By Arthur Conan Doyle

Another classic of literature. I loved these books as a teenager, and Sherlock is one of the most brilliantly drawn characters in literature. No wonder the nation went into mourning when Conan Doyle tried to kill him off.

Bridget Jones – from Bridget Jones’ Diary by Helen Fielding

20131001-194320.jpg
The woman who made it cool to be an idiot. She gets everything wrong, she’s a walking disaster and her life isn’t much better but everyone still loves her. I look at her and think, yeah, I’m doing ok actually!

WHO WINS, YOU DECIDE!
