Christmas Yves by Nicola May

It’s two days before Christmas – and Evie Harris finds herself both manless and jobless. After a chance encounter with handsome Greg (and egged on by her toy-boy-eating friend, Bea). She agrees to work at a homeless shelter on Christmas Day.
Striking up an unlikely friendship with homeless Yves. Evie begins an unwitting journey of spiritual awakening. All set against the sparkling winter backdrop of London landmarks.
A New Year’s Eve revelation is on its way . . . But will it leave Evie with a happy heart, or will she allow the pre-Christmas past to dictate her future?

Christmas Yves is a wonderful read to warm the heart and instil the real meaning of life!
And that’s why at the start of January I want to recommend this book to you all. At a time when people are re-assessing their lives and making changes. There is something magical about a novella that can remind us of what’s important, what we should be focusing on.
Yes it is set at Christmas, but the lesson within the pages, is timeless.
When Evie finds herself jobless and single at Christmas, she feels as though all hope’s lost. But a chance encounter in a bar, finds her volunteering to help feed the homeless. Through this selfless act, she meets Yves, a man who is about to show Evie that all is not lost!
I love this novella, the friendship between Evie and Bea, was wonderful and Bea is a great character to lighten the mood in what is a very touching story.
Evie is a great character and very easy to relate to, within a couple of pages, I was hoping for her to have the happy ending she deserved. The ending she got, wasn’t one I could have foreseen, one that left me open mouthed and teary eyed.
I can’t recommend this novella enough, whatever the season, it will restore you faith in the world and leave you feeling hope and love.
A read for any occasion!
