The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky Charlie is a freshman.
And while he’s not the biggest geek in the school, he is by no means popular. Shy, introspective, intelligent beyond his years yet socially awkward, he is a wallflower, caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it.
Charlie is attempting to navigate his way through uncharted territory: the world of first dates and mix tapes, family dramas and new friends; the world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite. But he can’t stay on the sideline forever. Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a deeply affecting coming-of-age story that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up.

The Perks of being a Wallflower’ was a gift I received from my wonderful friend Laura. I’ve seen the movie trailer but that’s about as far as my knowledge went regarding the story. Laura however, talked about this book with such passion, that I just knew I had to read it!

And I’m so glad I did.
Through beautiful written letters from Charlie to his ‘Dear Friend’, you get to view life from the wallflower looking out.
The book deals with problems in such a heartfelt way, that when you close the book you’re lost for words.
Which is why It’s been hard trying to write this, in fact there are no words!
I want you to read it, to delve into the life of a teenager, looking out at the world around him and dealing with problems life throws at him. It’s a story of discovery and friendship.
A story that stays with you long after the final page.
