Don’t Tell The Groom by Anna Bell

Will Penny be able to keep her secret long enough to say ‘I do’?
Penny has big dreams for her wedding day. She wants an unforgettable celebration. Perfect down to the last detail, and has been saving for ages to make her dream a reality. When Mark finally pops the question, it’s the best moment of her life.
Until Penny checks her wedding fund and is horrified to discover that something has gone terribly wrong. There’s far less money there than she’d thought… and it’s all her fault. She can’t tell Mark the truth about what she’s done. He knows nothing about how much time she spends gambling online. Her only choice is to seek help for her addiction and get married on a drastically smaller budget.
Working under the pretense of surprising Mark with her plans on their big day. Operation ‘Don’t Tell the Groom’ rolls into action, with surprising, hilarious and moving results.
We all have that dream about our wedding day. Whether it’s your dress, the venue or what the groom will look like, at one time or another everyone’s mind has drifted to that special day.
Penny is no exception, she’s been dreaming about her wedding for years, planning for it and saving for it. When Mark proposes to Penny, it feels like all her dreams are coming true, the love of her life and access to the wedding fund, hello jimmy choo’s. But life isn’t that simple, when you’ve been gambling from your wedding fund and daydreaming at crucial times…. Can Penny admit she has a gambling problem and plan her wedding on a budget under the guise of ‘Don’t Tell The Groom’
I enjoyed this book, it was an upbeat funny read that delivered a great underlying message. I will admit, I wasn’t sure how it would play out with the addiction, bit the issue was handled well.
Penny‘s flawed and that for me, made her easy to relate to. The way she day dreams and let’s het mind wonder is something I am often guilty off. But what I love about Penny is the fact that she loves Mark wholeheartedly, at no time do her feelings for him waver. I found myself longing for them to have that magical day that every couple deserves.
A wonderful read that allows you to escape the day and realise what’s important in life.
