A compelling novel from Jennifer L. Armentrout, the New York Timesbestselling author of the Covenant and Lux series.
Dying sucks – and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows. Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things – including boys.
When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden’s adopted father, a man she’s sure has sinister reasons for collecting children with abilities even weirder than hers.
But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not have been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.
After a tragic accident left her dad dead and her mum a shadow of herself, Ember finds herself looking after her five year old sister Olivia.
But Olivia isn’t like other children, she can bring things back to life, a gift that Ember discovered the night she died along with her dad…
Only Ember didn’t just return from the dead, she’s left with a gift of her own…. whilst Olivia can give things life, Ember can take it away.
A gift some would call a curse!
I devoured this book in a day. The secrets that exist within the pages had me turning the pages eager to discover what it was all about.
Who are the faculty? Are the family really trust worthy? I wanted to know it all!
I still have questions and I hope that there is more to come, I need to to read more about Ember and Hayden.
Ember‘s a fantastic character to discover. It fascinated me how her little sister pulled her back to life. And how this experience had altered her eyes. I love how feisty she is and how she won’t back down. Olivia is her constant driving force and I loved the relationship the sisters share!
It’s incredible how over two years they’ve survived with each other. But can’t express a closeness through touch because it would end their relationship forever.
Olivia may have a guft but she’s still your normal five year old who wants cookies for tea and every available toy. Despite all the drama around her, she seems balanced and content.
When the sisters find themslves living with the Cromwell’s. Olivia takes it all in her stride and receives a warm welcome from everyone in the house.
Ember on the other hand is only welcomed by Hayden. He seems to be the only person who isn’t afraid of Ember and her ability.
Hayden is a hottie and it’s obvious that he‘s caught up in Embers life, the way he strives to protect her is at times swoon worthy,
You need to discover the sisters and the Cromwell family for yourself. It is a gift to let the magic unravel through the pages of Cursed!
