What if by Rebecca Donovan

What if you had a second chance to meet someone for the first time?

Cal Logan is shocked to see Nicole Bentley sitting across from him at a coffee shop thousands of miles from their hometown. After all, no one has seen or heard from her since they graduated over a year ago.
Except this girl isn’t Nicole. She’s called Nyelle, and has no idea who Cal is.
This
girl is impulsive and daring, her passion for life infectious. The complete opposite of Nicole. Cal finds himself utterly fascinated and falling hard. But Nyelle is also extremely secretive. And the closer he comes to finding out what she’s hiding, the less he wants to know.

WHAT IF is the addictive new stand-alone novel by Rebecca Donovan featuring romance, loss and a surprising twist, making it an irresistible read.

My thoughts:

Whilst attending college, Cal comes face to face with a girl he believes to be his childhood friend Nicole, but the only thing that Nyelle and Nicole have in common is their looks…
Is it possible that Cal is mistaken?

Where do I begin, it is proving hard to put into words a book that can transform your world into two words What If. What If I had never read this beautifully written story and discovered the written word of Rebecca Donovan.

Donovan has done an incredible job of pulling the emotions from the pages and allowing the reader to feel everything her characters experience. What if Is a beautifully gripping story that is intricately woven into past and present.

All of the characters are incredible and all unique, but together they make the best of friends, pulling strengths and weaknesses together!

Cal is wonderful. I love how he doesn’t see himself the way others do, I love how he is scared to say no, I love how his friendships are precious to him, I LOVE HIM! His friendship with Rae shows how genuinely lovely he really is.

Rae is feisty and outspoken and the way she plays Cal up adds some lightness to what is at times an emotional read.

Let’s not forget Nyelle who at times is both whimsical and childlike. I love the way she looks at things. However, there are times when you can see she is lost and trying to find her place in the world, She has a need for adventure and has inspired me to go in search of my own frosting tree.

Honestly, I cannot recommend this book enough. it is worthy of every tear, every heartache, and every smile. This read will allow its readers to close the book and take their own meaning from the story. That’s the magic of What if, everyone’s What if is different …

Favourite quote:

What about the shooting stars?” Nyelle turns her head with a jerk at the sound of my voice like she forgot I was beside her. “You wish on them, for another chance to get it right.”
