Questions and Answers
What are your future plans for your blog?
I am really excited about the future of the blog, I have some incredible events coming up and I can’t wait to share them with you all.
What is your favourite thing about blogging?
One of my favourite things about blogging is the people it has bought into my life, two of my best friends are people I met through book blogging. And if I am honest the other thing I love about blogging is the opportunities it has given me.
How long have you been blogging for?
June will be my 6 year anniversary.
What would be your tips for new bloggers?
I would advise any new blogger to remember to keep the fun, the passion and create a realistic schedule. I love blogging, it is my proudest achievement to date and I think that shows when I talk about it to new people. Keep that, if it feels like a chore then I would say it isn’t for you. Do it because you love it.
What was the motivation behind the start of your blog?
The story behind my blogging dates back to May 2012 when I won a competition to meet an author that I was in awe of. Whilst at the event, I got talking to bloggers who were covering the event and swapped twitter handles with them. A week later I saw a twitter shout out from one of them asking for a guest reviewer and threw my name into the ring. Within a month I had been approached by publishers to review in my own name and my first blog was born. With it came a sense of fulfilment, passion and a dream, everything I still have now.
How do you keep yourself motivated?
My blog in itself motivates, because I enjoy what I do I find that helps to motivate me. Don’t get me wrong, I do have times when I’m not motivated to blog… I took a long break after losing my dad. But when that happens I take the pressure off, have some time to focus and then come back to it when I’m ready!
What is the most challenging thing about blogging?
When I first started blogging I tried to post 7 days a week and that was too much for me and my lifestyle. I found scheduling to be a challenge at first and now my challenge is worrying about if I’m over sharing!
What inspires you to write?
My loved ones, their faith in me and my ability keeps me inspired!
If you could give your younger self a piece of advice what would it be?
“Put down that bar of chocolate” in all seriousness, I would tell my younger self
“You are going to go through tough times in your life and they are going to test you both emotionally and physically, but always remember your family motto ‘Dum Spiro Spero’ You’ve got this!’
What’s your favourite place in the world?
My favourite place is Inverness, as a descendant from such a beautiful place I always feel like I’m returning home when I go there. It is like I connect to my dads family and a calming tranquility overcomes me!
