The journey starts here, XLS

Immediately after losing my dad, my appetite became non-existent and I lost weight. However, on the rollercoaster that is reactive depression, my appetite has since returned with a vengeance. Now instead of my emotions making me feel full, they are begging to be eaten and as such my body image and confidence have vanished. In fact, I barely recognise myself and I hate it. On the rare occasion that I can face a mirror, I am repulsed by what I see, every bit of me looks and feels fat.

Which is why on Tuesday the 10th of April 2018 I took myself well and truly out of my comfort zone and travelled to London to meet with XLS nutrition and enrol on their 8-week programme.

Over the next 8 weeks, I will be sharing with you weekly updates and taking you on what will helpfully prove to be my successful weight loss journey!

In London

When I arrived in London I headed to the Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings where I met with six of my fellow boost buddies, who will also be blogging about their journey. The programme is being followed by twenty bloggers/vloggers in total. Which means that you get to see real people with results.

On the day

When I first met my boost buddies I was considerably nervous, feeling exposed in a fitted top and jeans that showed my silhouette. As someone who is always found in loose fitted clothing, I felt uncomfortable and to add to my nerves I was then videoed, weighed, measured and photographed.

However, we were all in the same boat and that automatically gave us common ground.

After we had undergone our interviews, photography session and measurements and spoke to the dietician and trainer for advice on our journey, we were then invited to sit down and enjoy a meal with the team from XLS. This allowed us to get to know each other more and also hear some more from Jodie the dietician.

The XLS journey

The first two weeks will see me replace two meals with an XLS shake, I will be using the chocolate and strawberry shakes and they contain the following:

    • 28g of protein for optimal health
    • B Vitamins for energy release

    • Vegetarian-friendly
    • Each 400g tub contains x10 servings. 
    • Naturally sourced ingredients*
    • With all your essential vitamins and minerals

Around the 24th of April 2018, I will be reviewed to see if I am to carry on with two shakes or switch to one. Along with my daily shakes, I will also be eating a 600 calorie meal and upping my activity levels to participate in at least two hours exercise a week.

Reminding myself

Throughout the process, I kept reminding myself that I was there for me, that although I was nervous and paranoid, I was there to change myself!

That is why in 8 weeks time, I am determined to walk back through those doors and not look like the person they met. I want to be the person who has put their all into this and got results. I want to be able to say I am on the path to liking myself.

With that in mind, I embark on my journey excitedly.
