As a blogger of 7 years, I share a lot of my personal life on social media. However, recently I have started to wonder how much do you share before it becomes too much?
In the beginning
When I first started blogging I only talked about books on my blog and my social media channels. However, as my network grew I found my social media accounts became an extension of me. Random thoughts would be shared as a tweet. Places I visited would be posted to Instagram and before I knew it my following had diversified.
I am one of those people who love’s using Instagram, taking the perfect image and using a great mix of hashtags. Over the years social media has introduced me to some of my best friends. And I suppose that is why I am not as censored on there as what others might be.

After Luv and Lifestyle was created I promised that even though my blog had been rebranded I would stay true to myself. And make sure that like my social media, the blog would become an extension of me. It would share things I enjoyed, places I had visited and personal posts.
It was never my intention to write posts about losing my dad and my journey with depression. However, one night I found myself sat in front of my keyboard and the words flowed from me, there was something cathartic about it. Despite feeling emotionally drained I discovered a form of therapy when putting my words down.
In all honesty, after sharing my first emotional post I found myself doubting if I should’ve posted it. I was faced with self-doubt and worried that I would lose followers. However, the feedback I received made me realise that I wasn’t the only person to lose a parent or face a mental health issue.
Keeping a personal life
Although I share a lot about myself on social media there are still things that I like to keep private. After 6 years I am hoping that I have managed to create a good blog/work/life balance and hopefully I can keep it that way.
