Dining Out: Cosy Club Birmingham

One of my favourite places in Birmingham is the Cosy Club on Bennetts Hill but if I am honest I have only ever eaten brunch there, well gluten free cosy eggs to be precise.

Two poached eggs with hollandaise sauce on gluten free toast and your choice of smoked back bacon or spinach and mushrooms or smoked salmon* or Chorizo, spinach & peppers*.

So imagine my delight when I was offered the chance to try out the new menu.

Oh So Cosy

One of my favourite things about the Cosy Club, second to the food, of course, is the decor. A wonderful mix of quirky, rustic and eclectic the decor offers a wonderfully cosy setting. Accessorised with grand old portraits, vintage lamps and floral frames, the Cosy Club pays attention to details and offers you a calming relaxing dining experience.

Quenching that thirst

The cosy club offers a wonderful range of drinks from cocktails to milkshakes, so when it came to selecting a drink I really was spoilt for choice.

After quite a bit of deliberating, I finally settled on the Rosemary Riviera

A delightful little blend of Italian fizz, elderflower and pear liqueurs, a touch of dearest rosemary and a hint of lemon.

I adore fruity refreshing drinks and this really hit the spot. The pear and elderflower worked beautifully together and is a drink I will definitely be having again. Since Adam was driving, he opted for the vanilla and declared it delicious!

*I returned to Cosy Club a few days after for a late brunch with family and on this occasion along with the cocktail above we also purchased the Strawberries & Cream cocktail.

For a winning combination, mix together Williams GB gin and strawberries, shake hard with vanilla and lengthen with soda; game, set and match.

All the food

When it comes to eating out I am definitely someone who would rather have a pudding than a starter. I wish I could say that I am didn’t have a sweet tooth but sadly that would be a lie. So knowing that I would want to try something of the pudding menu I made the decision to jump straight into my main and ordered:

Roasted Chicken Breast filled with mozzarella, balsamic tomatoes and pesto, wrapped in smoked bacon and served with baby kale, wood-roasted peppers, parmesan potatoes and a balsamic dressing.

I ordered the above dish without peppers and it tasted AMAZING, the parmesan potatoes were heavenly and when combined with the balsamic dressing chicken. oh wow! What a taste sensation. I would happily eat a bowl of those potatoes.

Adam ordered:

The Brigadier 100% pure beef 6oz patty with cheese, pulled pork, chorizo, beef tomato, gherkin and chipotle mayo.

Served with house slaw and fries or salad, served on a brioche bun.

Adam chose this burger because it was nothing like any of the burgers he had had before. He found the pulled pork and chorizo combination to be a great mix of flavours. And declared it something he would definitely have again.

Despite Adam feeling full after his burger, I was not missing out on the opportunity to satisfy my sweet tooth and proceeded to order myself a hot chocolate, Adam another milkshake and a…..

Warm Chocolate Brownie with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.

This melt in the mouth pudding was certainly a treat. Packed full of chocolaty goodness and served deliciously warm, it was definitely everything my sweet tooth was longing for. And the fact that it was accompanied by a yummy hot chocolate was the perfect pairing.

We had a wonderful meal with brilliant service and honestly if you haven’t been the Cosy Club before, you really are missing out. A place to go again and again!
