You may have spent a lot of time and effort on your relationship, but it hasn’t worked out how you planned and now you’re young free and single again, only you’re also feeling more than a bit broken-hearted. It’s natural, but wallowing over it isn’t going to get you very far, and it really isn’t going to make you feel any better, so it’s time to stop with the self-pitying and make with the moving on.
Sound good, here are a few of the things grown women do when they’re done with the heartache and they’re ready to move on:
Block the Ex
Yes, it’s tempting to spend most of your life stalking your ex on Facebook or Instagram, checking out what they’re up to in your absence and hoping they haven’t moved on already, but what good is that? You’ll either moon over them in place of having a life and getting out there meeting new people or you’ll get upset when it looks like they’re having more fun that you are. Don’t give them any more headspace and tap that block button!
Do Some Trash Talkin’ Then Move On
Assemble a gang of your best buddies, the ones who truly have your back, and spend some quality time trash talking the ex until it’s out of your system, and then stop dwelling on it. Although it might not be the most mature thing, doing a little ranting about your ex’s worst qualities can be cathartic, but if it goes on too long, it will make you miserable and bitter, consider this a warning!
Whether it’s buying something pretty from Cuckooland’s gift ideas for her section, heading off for a spa weekend where you can chill out or taking that trip overseas that you’ve always wanted to, doing something to treat yourself will take your mind off things and help you to get some perspective. You’re totally worth it.
Do Some Intense Exercising
No, not so you can develop the perfect revenge body, although that would probably help some of you, but because intense exercise, especially the more aggressive kind, such as kickboxing or Krav Maga, will give you the perfect outlet for any anger that you’re harbouring after the split.
Eat Ice Cream
It might be a total cliche, and you maybe shouldn’t do it for more than a few days after the relationship ends, but it turns out that eating ice cream or any dairy products for that matter, when you’re feeling stressed and sad after a breakup can help. Why? Because it contains tryptophan which is a natural relaxant. 5 pints of Ben and Jerry’s stat!
Put Yourself Out There
You don’t have to start dating right after the relationship implodes., but hitting the local pubs and clubs and maybe indulging in a fun bit of flirtation will take your mind off your troubles and show you there is a way forward. It certainly beats comfort eating on the couch, right?
